Fiber Project* Progress Report

Here is what’s been happening since our December Public Education Meeting.

PRELIMINARY STAGE: COMPLETED: The New NYS Broadband Grant Project is progressing with the completion of preliminary steps such as permits, applications, staking & mapping.

STAGE ONE: IN PROGRESS: Crews construct and splice the main route of fiber providing the network structure back to our office. The construction of the entire network is just over 50% complete. In areas where it has been completed, some customers are entering Stage Two.

STAGE TWO: STARTING UP: Several crews subcontracted by Hancock Telephone Co. are now working in the Hancock area. They will place fiber drop wires and Optical Network Terminals (ONTs) for service to residents and businesses. This stage will include installation to only the outside of the building and connection testing. Customer interior installs will happen in the final phase of the project build.

FINAL STAGE: Once the testing is complete, customer interior service connections will be scheduled.

Note: Due to the scope of the work, stages may overlap for various project areas.
